Ted Harrison divides his time between homes in Aberystwyth and Unst, Shetland. In 2008, after a successful career in broadcasting - as a television producer, BBC correspondent and Radio 4 presenter - he made a complete career change and studied for an MA in Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury.
Since then he has been working as an artist in a range of styles. His installation under the dome at St Paul’s in London in 2011 was the cathedral’s Remembrance-tide focus. In 2015 he made a wall sculpture for Guy’s Hospital honouring organ donors. His smaller scale works are inspired by the landscape and sea of both Wales and the far north of Scotland. Earlier this year his series of paintings of the holy wells of Wales was shown at St David’s Cathedral. For each one Ted collected water from the well to use in the painting.
As a cartoonist he recently illustrated Richard Coles’ two books on ‘Improbable Saints’. And as an author himself his latest book ‘The Death and Resurrection of Elvis Presley’ is published this year. He can be contacted via his website at tedharrison.co.uk
