Alan Jefferies

Alan was born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1950, and currently lives and works in Montgomery, Powys. For 40 years, he worked in the Printing and Publishing industry as a Colour Specialist with Agfa UK. During that period, he had the desire to use his colour knowledge in a more expressive and creative way, hence the transition to abstract painting. His artwork could be described as explosions of paint on canvas, they are a reaction and in response to the shapes, colours, and forms of nature.

Alan's current works have evolved through one to one tutorials with June Forester and John Harvey, at the Aberystwyth School of Art. The first works were inspired by the works of Hans Hoffman, Rhothko and Ken Draper. The latter works were influnced by Serg Poliakoff, Ad Reinhardt, Robert Natkin, and last but not least Ben Nicholson.
