Barbara studied at Liverpool College of Art gaining a fine art degree before studying for a further year for a post graduate qualification in the teaching of art. She moved to Llanberis in the late sixties and has maintained a family home in the Snowdonia National Park ever since.
She has been an Art lecturer in Liverpool and Bangor as well as overseas, particularly in the Seychelles. During this time she always continued working and exhibiting as an artist. Indeed when she finished her contract, teaching fine art and printed textiles at the Seychelles Polytechnic, Barbara moved to La Digue with her husband where she ran her own studio/gallery for many years.
Barbara always responds to the culture and the landscape in which she finds herself living. In the tropics this was lush tropical landscape vivid under the intense sunlight. On returning to Wales, Barbara responded anew to the often brooding and dramatic light over the mountains with a renewed appreciation of the seasonal colour changes in the landscape.
